Summer Week 5
The best holidays
Monday :
Today we woke up at 8:05 a.m. We dressed up and we went downstairs to have our breakfast. Then we went to the stables and changed our shoes. The first to ride got prepared, and we started brushing the horses. Pierre rode Jimmy, Garance rode Shrek, Kimmi rode Eric and Hombline rode Buster. During this time, Emilie, Suzanne and Lola brushed George, Rubix and Jack. Andrea, Juliette and Leocadie brushed Annie and Zulu. Then, Andrea and Emilie brought back Albert from the paddock and brushed him. After that, it was time for the second group to ride. Emilie rode George, Suzanne rode Zulu and Juliette rode Shrek. During this time Lola and Leocadie went outside to brush Brooke and Badger and Garance, Pierre, Kimmi and Hombeline showered their horses. Andrea cleaned the bridle and saddle, and extended the saddle pads that have been washed. Then, the last group to ride had their lesson : Lola rode Rory,Andrea rode Zulu and Leocadie rode Annie. During this time , Emilie and Suzanne washed George and fed the horses.Then Emilie took care of Alf.While the others painted horse shoes. When the last lesson was finished, we showered the horses before changing our shoes to go back to the house.There we first prepared our stuff for the swimming pool then we had lunch. After that we had a little break before the English lesson. Around 2:30 p.m. the English lesson started: there were 2 groups,the first one worked on the British parliament ; and the second group worked on the “Wh” pronouns. Then, we had a snack around 4:15 p.m. before going to the swimming pool. We had a great time and it was very funny !!! Now we are writing the blog and we are going to have dinner soon. We are all very hungry !!!
Tuesday :
Today we woke up at 8:15 a.m. We dressed up and we went downstairs to have our breakfast. Then we went to the stables and changed our shoes. For the first lesson : Garance rode Shrek, Kimmi rode Eric, Pierre rode Jimmy and Hombeline rode Buster. During this time Leocadie, Juliette, Lola and Suzanne brushed Rubix, Zulu, Jamie and Rory, and Emilie and Andrea brushed Albert and Jack. Then, Andrea and Emilie prepared George, Zulu and Annie for the second lesson, with Suzanne and Juliette. Andrea rode George, Suzanne rode Zulu and Juliette rode Annie. They worked on leg yield and transition to canter. During this time, the others showered the horses that had already been ridden. Garance and Emilie showered Shrek, and Hombline did the same with Buster, as well as Pierre with Jimmy. They also oil their feet. Then it was time for the third lesson to start. Emilie rode Shrek, Leocadie rode Eric and Lola rode Rory. They worked on the same things as the second group. The others painted some horse shoes while Andrea went back to the house with Anne Sophie for their theory lesson. Around 1:00 pm the rest of the group went back to the house, and had a break before lunch during which they took their showers. Then we all had lunch. After that we had a break again before the English lesson. As yesterday there were two groups, one with Grace and one with Milly. However, Andrea had to work on her galop 5 and some ground work, so she didn’t do the english lesson. At 3:30 pm, Emilie joined Andrea and Anne-Sophie at the stables to do some ground work as well. The three of them prepared Albert to do some long reins with Oliver. When the others finished their English lesson they had a snack and went to the stables to help to bring the horses and ponies to the field. Some of the girls brushed the horses while the others helped Milly with the hay. At the same time, Oliver taught Andrea and Emilie how to muck out the boxes. After that, everybody went back to the house to do the blog. Now we are going to have a quick shower before dinner, and then we are going to the lake to see the fireworks because today is the 14th of July !
Wednesday :
Today, as we weren’t riding, we could sleep longer. Some of the students woke up around 8:00 a.m. So Emilie, Garance, Pierre and Andrea had their breakfast first, and went to the stables to help preparing the horses, as some of us were having extra lessons, for instance for the galop exam. Emilie had a lunge lesson with Rory and Oliver while Lola had a lesson with Shrek and Grace. During this time, the rest of the group woke up and had their breakfast. They then went to the stables too and started to brush the horses. When Emilie finished her lesson, Andrea prepared Zulu for her lesson. With Oliver’s advice, she worked on her position without reins and stirrups. It was very interesting. After that, some of the girls painted horse shoes, and some others brushed the ponies and the horses, such as Albert, Jack, Jamie, George… Then they cleaned the saddles and bridles, and helped to shower some horses. Around 10:30 a.m. Garance and Kimmi went back to the house where they had a theory lesson to prepare their galop 3. After we finished swiping the stables, everyone went back to the house for the English lesson. We listened to Taylor Swift’s songs and sang together. Then we had lunch and said goodbye to Milly, she’s going back to Scotland. After that we had a one hour break in the living room until Garance ( the drama teacher) arrived. Once she was there, we started to do some improvisations and then we worked on our play for tomorrow named “the little late riding hood”. After Andrea had her theory lesson with Anne-Sophie and the others went to the stables to help put the horses in the paddocks and then went back to the house to take their showers. Now we are about to have dinner : tonight is burger night !
Thursday :
Today Lola, Andrea, Emilie and Garance woke up earlier, at 7:30, had their breakfast and then went to the stables while the others woke up. Then they had their lesson : Lola rode Rory, Andrea rode Zulu, and Emilie rode George. They did pole work. During this time, the others arrived at the stables and brushed Jimmy, Badger, Buster, Eric, Brooke and Shrek and tacked them up. Then the second group had their lesson : Juliette rode Eric, Leocadie rode Rory, and Suzanne rode Zulu, and also did pole work. At the same moment, the last group went on a hack with Grace who rode Jimmy ; Pierre rode Buster, Hombeline rode Badger, Kimmy rode Brooke, and Garance rode Shrek. They had a great time ! During this time, Emilie and Lola showered George and washed his main and tail, while Andrea brushed Jack, Albert, Rubix, Annie and Jamie. Then, when the second lesson was finished, and the people that went hacking were back, Andrea helped Hombeline and Kimmi to showered Badger and Brooke, and Lola and Leocadie showered Rory and Eric, as well as Suzanne with Zulu. Around 11:30 a.m. Andrea went back to the house with Anne-Sophie to pass their theory exam. During this time, some of the girls swiped the stables, and Emilie brushed Alf. Then, they showered Shrek, cleaned the saddles and bridles, and fed the horses before going back to the house. While Andrea and Anne-Sophie were finishing the theory exam, the others started eating their lunch. Around 12:30 Andrea and Grace accompanied Anne-Sophie to her car and said goodbye to her. After that, they went back to the house to have lunch. When everyone finished their lunch, we had a long break outside during which we played badminton. We then had our English lesson. The first group work on the different parts of the horse body, but also on the bridles and saddles with Grace. The second group worked on the 6 scales of horse training with Oliver, which was very interesting. Around 4:30 p.m. we had a snack before the drama class. Garance had to pass the dressage for her galop 3, so she skipped the first part of it. The others worked on their plays. When she came back, Andrea and Emilie went to the stables for a long-rein lesson with Oliver, and then went back to the house to play in front of Michelle and Oliver. It was very funny ! Then we all went upstairs and had our shower. Now we are about to eat, and we’re all very hungry !
Friday
Today we woke up at 8:00 a.m. We dressed up and went downstairs to have breakfast. Garance went to the stables before everyone to pass her dressage with Annie for her galop 3. Just after, Andrea and Emilie joined her. They changed their shoes and brought back Albert from the paddock before brushing him. Then they did the same with George and Jack. A few minutes later, the others arrived and started brushing the ponies. Lola and Juilette brushed Rory, Pierre brushed Buster, Leocadie and Suzanne brushed Jamie and Hombeline and Kimmi brushed Shrek. Before starting the lessons, we all walked the course with Oliver, because today we were jumping ! After that we prepared the horses for the first lesson. Lola rode Shrek, Suzanne rode Zulu and Andrea rode Annie. During this time, the others watched a part of the lesson while some of them prepared the horses for the second lesson. Emilie rode Jimmy, Juliette rode Eric and Leocadie rode Shrek. Then Andrea showered Annie in her box and put some creme on her head, while Garance helped to prepare Brooke and Badger for the third lesson. When it started, everyone helped untack the horses and ponies. After that, Lola swiped the stables, while Andrea cleaned the saddles and the others showered the horses. When the last lesson was finished, some of us fed the horses, some others painted their horse shoes, and the rest of us brought back the ponies to the field. Then, we all changed our shoes and went back to the house. We first prepared our bags for the lake, and then had lunch. After that, we had a one hour break, during which we played UNO outside, it was very fun ! Around 2:30 p.m. we had our English lesson. Grace’s group worked on the jobs, and Oliver’s group did a Cambridge test. After that, we went to the lake. When we arrived, it started raining a lot so we went to the restaurant and had an ice cream with a drink to wait. We then installed the tables an the benches for the dinner. We put some music on and it was very cool. We had a very lovely and fun moment. Around 7:15 p.m. we went back to the house. We are now about to take our showers, and we’ll then go to bed
