Summer Week 9
The best week of 2025
Day 1
This morning, we woke up at 8 o’clock. We had 15 minutes to get ready for breakfast. Then we headed up to the stables and brushed the ponies. It was a nice way to get to know the ponies ! Afterwards the first group (composed of Alix riding Buster, Coline riding Swing and Oscar riding Brooke) started riding. They did some dressage: they walked and trotted. The second group (composed of Charlotte riding Annie, Eva riding Rubix and Carmen riding Shrek) started riding. During the lessons they did some leg-ins. The third group (composed of Ava riding Zulu and Lola riding Rory) started riding. They worked on transitions canter-trot-canter. Eventually, we showered many ponies including Brooke and Rubix. Ava trained for her Galop 7 by taking a bridle apart. Then we gathered all together to paint some horseshoes. It was very nice and it was a great occasion to talk with one another.
After that, we went back to the house to have lunch. We had sandwiches with crisps and biscuits for dessert. Then we had some free time during which Louise and Oscar played Monopoly. Meanwhile, Jenny was sleeping in Louise’s bed. She is so sweet !!! 😽
After the free time we split in two for the English lesson. Ava, Coline and Louise went with Leighton while the others went with Grace. Leighton’s group studied the Great Fire of London (which happened in 1666 🤓) and the others worked on jobs. We spent some time in the stables. We fed and brushed the horses. We also got the horses back to their paddocks. Eventually we went back to the house to do the blog and shower.
PS: fun anecdote: Carmen talked in her sleep; saying ‘Stop with the food girls!’ 😂😪
Day 2
This morning we woke up at 8 past 8. This time, we had 20 minutes to get ready for breakfast. Then, we headed up to the stables and brushed the ponies. The first group was composed of Oscar riding Brook, Alix riding Buster and Coline riding Swing. They did some dressage and cantered for the first time of the stay. Afterwards, the second group, composed of Eva riding Annie, Carmen riding Shrek and Charlotte riding George (she was extremely happy) started riding. They did the same thing as the first group. Eventually, the third group was composed of Ava riding Zulu (couette 💅) and Lola riding Rory (Lola was extremely happy as well). They worked on pole bars and direction. Today, exceptionally, Louise rode ! She went on a small hack (riding Buster) with Grace who was riding Albert. They ate some blackberries on the way 😁 (and did not bring any to the others huhu).
Then, it was time for us to eat. We had sandwiches, and the croque-monsieurs were very successful 😉 After that, we had our English lesson together with Grace. We learnt some horse vocabulary while Ava was working on her own vocabulary for school. We helped her a bit 😀 Meanwhile we were doing our English lesson, Michelle and Leighton were having a haircut.
Eventually, in the afternoon we went to the swimming pool ! It was very nice and we had a lot of fun. We went back to the house and had dinner together. Before dinner, we wrote The blog ! And as we did not have time to finish it this day, we are finishing it on the next day, that is to say on Wednesday.
P.S:Grace tried a new girth for Zulu (couette 💅)

Day 3
This morning, we had a lay-in 🛌. As a matter of fact, we woke up at 9 o’clock ! We had 15 minutes to get ready for breakfast. Wednesday is not like the other days as we have a special activity. Therefore, we finished yesterday’s blog and had our English lesson. It was a special English lesson. First of all, it was made by Leighton and we practised a very funny play about fairy tales. We had a lot of fun thinking of props, costumes and actions. Now, we’re ready for the show !
Then, we had lunch, and it was delicious. After, we took the car to go to the cube. We had two teams : the first team was composed of Coline, Alix, Lola and Charlotte and the second team of Louise, Ava, Eva, Oscar and Carmen. Some activities required strength, other agility and other reflection. The second team won and we all had so much fun !
After that, we came back to the house for Lola and Carmen to ride. Carmen trained for her Galop 4’s dressage test with Annie and Lola jumped with Shrek. Meanwhile, the others were taking the horses to their paddocks. Then, we continued painting our horseshoes.
It was an amazing day ! Now, we’re writing the blog in front of a nice sunset.
PS: unfortunately (or fortunately😉), we did not hear Carmen talk in her sleep tonight 💤
Day 4
This morning we woke up at 23 to 8. We had 15 minutes to get ready and we had our breakfast. Then, we went to the stables and started by brushing some horses. This time, Charlotte riding George, Eva riding Annie and Carmen riding Zulu were the first to ride. Unfortunately, George started to limp therefore Charlotte had to ride Shrek. After that, the second group composed of Oscar riding Swing, Coline riding Annie and Alix riding Buster started riding. Eventually, the last group composed of Lola with Rory and Ava with Alf did some leg-ins.
Afterwards, we went back to the house to have our lunch and it was delicious. We had some free time before the English lesson. This time, it was like on Monday, with two different groups. Grace’s group sang “Viva la vida” by Coldplay, and Leighton’s group did a quiz on British culture (Louise won 😆). Then we had a snack, and we went to the stables. Ava, Carmen and Lola had private lessons and Louise (riding Buster) had a hack with Grace (riding Albert). Lola jumped with Shrek but she fell off ! Fortunately, she’s okay. Ava repeated her Club 1 dressage reprise with Zulu. Carmen has taken her Galop 4’s dressage test. Hopefully she has passed it !!
Now, we are writing the blog and Jenny is resting on Louise’s thighs 😉

Day 5 (the last one 😭😭)
Today, we woke up at 13 to 8. As usual, we had 15 minutes to get ready for breakfast. After breakfast, we went to the stables. We started by brushing the horses while Coline and Alix were getting on their ponies. Coline rode Rubix and Alix Swing. They jumped and rode very well !! Then, the second group composed of Eva riding Rubix and Oscar riding Swing got on the saddle to do some jumping. They had a lot of fun too. To continue, the third group composed of Ava riding Zulu and Charlotte riding Annie started riding. Eventually, the last group composed of Lola riding Zulu and Carmen riding Annie got on the saddle. Carmen actually passed her Galop 4’s jumping test. While they were riding, we continued to paint our horseshoes and many of us finished theirs. Then, we tidied the brushing and the tack room as some of us are leaving tomorrow😭😭
After that, we had our lunch and had some free time (during which Louise lost at Monopoly against Oscar who cheated). Ava and Carmen took their theory test, respectively for Galop 7 and 4. Afterwards, we performed our wonderful play in front of Leighton (who was the stage director), Grace and Michelle. We had a lot of fun 😆! Then we went with Grace to end the English lesson. We wrote about our summer holidays and we listened and sang “Castle on the Hill” from Ed Sheeran.
Eventually, we went to the lake to have a picnic with Leighton’s English friends who came to visit. We had sooo much fun on the paddle boats and were able to talk to one another. Our dinner was composed of nuggets, quiche, pizza, pasta, crisps, salad, tomatoes and sausages. We also had fizzy drinks and Schweps as drinks. It was delicious !! As a dessert we had Michelle’s cake, which is INCREDIBLE. We also had some sweets <3 Now we are back writing the blog 😁
PS: we are all very sad to leave as we spent an amazing week here ❤️
